Lucy Vodden of "in the sky with diamonds" fame dies at 46

Lucy Vodden, the childhood friend of Julian Lennon (John Lennon's son) who was the inspiration for the Beatles classic "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" has died at the young age of 46.

She was suffering from the illness Lupus, a terrible and incurable disease acting upon the immune system. We hope the exposure her passing will receive helps to secure more funding for research into this illness.

The song was inspired by a painting Julian Lennon did at school of her. It's one of the Beatle's best known tracks and has been covered by numerous artists over the years.

Our favourite renditions, aside from the original, are by William Shatner from his infamous The Transformed Man album and a less comical version by Japanese artist Hyde - a B-side on his single "Horizon".
